P200 – the general approach
- The general approach to using the gizmo with the P200, described in more detail in the following slides, is to use the ‘Performance’ feature of the P200 to switch MIDI channels and do all the other configuration that is required.
- To make this work, certain System ( as opposed to Performance specific ) settings are also required.
- Selecting a Performance will do the following :
- Ensure that MIDI is turned ON
- Define a MIDI channel ( and possibly sub channel for the keyboard ‘split’ feature ).
- Ensure that local sound generation ( by the P200 ) is turned OFF.
- Ensure that the P200 will send all the MIDI messages that are required, and not send messages that would mess things up.
- Send a Program Change message if a non-default patch is required in the gizmo.
