Software has been my thing since the first company that some friends and I created in college. It's been a wild ride.
Although many people have tried to structure, systematize, formalize or distill the process(es) of software creation, it seems to find ways of resisting capture. 'Programming' is many different things to many different people. It's problem solving, it's product creation, it's a form of self expression. As Knuth famously hinted, it's an art, and as Dijkstra had already pointed out, it's a discipline. It's a wonder anyone can write a line of code without disappearing in a puff of metaphysical enlightenment.
So in the end, you just have to get down and do stuff. Here are a few things I'm either doing, or have done recently. Of course, I have done many other things for my various megacorp masters, but hey, my lips are professionally sealed 🙂 .
